As the holiday season approaches, the Rotary Club of Pickering organized its annual cheque presentation to disburse $20,000 during an event on November 12 at the McEachnie Family Centre, 20 Church Street North, Ajax.
From an organization that provides recovery programs to human trafficking victims, to a charity that helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, and an organization bringing Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples together for community well-being, 10 organizations received donations in cash and in kind from the Club.

“This time of year reminds us of the importance of community, compassion and giving,” says Don Alton, President of the Club. “We’re honoured to support organizations that share our mission of service above self and that work tirelessly to improve the well-being of others.”
Pickering Rotary continues to play a vital role in strengthening the Durham Region through service projects, fundraising, and community engagement. The Club’s ongoing efforts reflect Rotary’s global commitment to creating positive, sustainable change.
The Club raises funds through the generous support of community members and local business partners at several events held in Pickering. Club members also raise funds by volunteering at the Delta Bingo & Gaming location in the city.
These proceeds are distributed to charities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families—both locally and beyond. This year’s cheque recipients include: Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre, CNIB Guide Dog, DARS - Dedicated Advocacy Resource Support, Footprints4Autism, HIP(Helping Indigenous Peoples), Luke’s Place and SafeHope Home.
This year’s Pickering Rotary Ribfest sponsors — Fides Mortgages, Kubota Canada, and Miller Waste Systems — will also be recognized at the event for their generous support.
