The 856 Pickering Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron had their 27th Annual Review at the Don Beer Arena on Sunday, June 7, 2026. At the event, the Rotary Club of Pickering was honoured for supporting its youth leadership focused activities, which are free to all participants.
The Club's contribution to this fundraising effort was $1,500, presented during a cheque distribution event on May 19, alongside other recipients. “We distribute funds raised from various initiatives, including partnering with Delta Bingo & Gaming in Pickering and our own Pickering Rotary Ribfest, through which we raise funds to reinvest directly back into local and global charities and community organizations such as 856 Air Cadets,” said Don Alton, outgoing President of the Club.

Building leaders, citizens and teams across Canada is its goal of the not-for-profit organization that has trained 65,000+ youth in the last 85 years, according to Roger Thompson, chairperson of Pickering division's Squadron Sponsoring Committee, which includes parents and cadets.
The ceremonial review parade order included March On of the squadron, March on of the Flags, inspection of Squadron by the Reviewing Officer, Squadron March Past, Band and Drill Team performances, followed by awards presentation.
Retiring cadets were celebrated with one final March and recognition during the ceremonial event.
Addresses during the event included those by the reviewing officer, the commanding officer, and Thompson as the sponsoring committee's lead. He noted that the squadron achieved their goal set for raising $5000 in 100 days ending on the day of the ceremony. While donations in kind were valued at $8,750, cash donations amounted to $2,500.
