Dr. Daniel Hasznos
Brass and Woodwinds Adjudicator
Dr. Daniel Hasznos is an active performer, educator, and conductor. He has been featured as a recitalist, clinician, and chamber musician at several festivals, conferences, and institutions including the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Le Domaine Forget Music Festival, Bowdoin Chamber Music Festival, Florida Music Educators Association Conference, Ontario Music Educators Association Conference, International Society of Music Educators Conference, Florida State University, Sir Wilfred Laurier University, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of New Mexico, DePaul University, University of Windsor, Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil; Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Sao Paolo, Brazil; Oklahoma City University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and the University of Toronto Scarborough. As a member and co-founder of the chamber group Duo Demel with flautist Dr. Osvaldo Gomes Santos, Dr. Hasznos has performed extensively throughout Canada, United States, Brazil, France, Austria, and Hungary featuring contemporary music with a blend of folk musical elements.
 
Dr. Hasznos is very involved in the performance of new works. His projects include performing the world premier of Sonata for Clarinet and Orchestra by Brazilian composer Villani Cortes, Blocks by Henry Ng, the American premier of Phil Nimmons’ Time Revisited, and conducting the North American premier of Scherzo for Strings, by renowned Hungarian composer, Miklós Malek.
 
Dr. Hasznos is a dedicated music educator. He has taught applied clarinet, chamber music, and woodwind methods at Florida State University, guest conducted the Federal University of Santa Catarina’s Chamber Orchestra in Florianopolis, Brazil, and taught K-12 vocal and instrument music at various schools in the Toronto Catholic District School Board while serving as an adjudicator at numerous music festivals across Canada.
 
Dr. Hasznos hold degrees from the University of Toronto, where he studied clarinet under Joaquin Valdapeñas and chamber music with Patricia Parr, and Florida State University, where he studied under Dr. Frank Kowalsky, Dr. Deborah Bish, and conducting with Richard Clary. His other important and influential teachers include Yehuda Gilad, Ray Spasovski and Max Christie.
